We stock and install Elite-compatible welding and fabrication parts across San Antonio, with most welded gate frame repairs and bracket replacements running $285 to $680 installed. Same-day service is available on most weld repairs when you call (940) 531-3336 before noon. The typical call starts the same way: a gate that’s dragging on the ground, a hinge that’s torn loose from the post, or a crack running through a welded seam that wasn’t there last season.

Elite gates are built on welded steel or aluminum frames, and when a weld fails, it usually fails at a stress point: the hinge mount, the operator bracket, or where the horizontal rail meets the vertical stile. San Antonio’s heat doesn’t cause the failure, but our clay-heavy soil shifting under gate posts absolutely contributes to it. We see it most in neighborhoods like Stone Oak, Alamo Ranch, and older sections of Terrell Hills where post footings were poured decades ago.
Which Elite Models This Applies To
We handle welding and fabrication on the full range of Elite gate systems we service in San Antonio, including the SL3000 and SL5000 slide gate operators, the CSW200 and CSW200UL swing gate operators, and any Elite-compatible steel or aluminum gate frame that’s been in service for more than a few years. If you’re not sure what you have, look for the model plate on the operator housing, usually a silver or white sticker with the model number and voltage printed on it.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people learn too late: Elite swing gates from different production runs used different wall thicknesses on the vertical stiles, and welding a patch onto thinner-wall tubing requires a different heat setting than welding the thicker commercial frames. We match the filler rod and amperage to the actual metal on your gate rather than assuming it’s all the same. When a part can’t be welded safely, we use OEM Elite brackets and hardware whenever available, and we’ve had consistently good results with aftermarket steel hinges and weld plates that match or exceed the original material thickness. We won’t install a thinner aftermarket part just to save you fifteen dollars.

Signs Your Elite Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- Gate drags on the ground or leaves scrape marks on the driveway. This almost always means a hinge weld has stretched or cracked, letting the gate lean forward. The longer it drags, the more metal you lose off the bottom rail.
- Crack visible at a hinge mount or operator bracket. This is the most common weld failure we repair in San Antonio. The crack usually starts at the edge of the original weld bead where the heat-affected zone is brittle.
- Gate shudders or jerks during travel. A broken or cracked weld on an operator bracket changes the geometry of the pull, so the motor works harder and the gate moves rough. Left alone, it finishes off the bracket.
- Rust staining or paint bubbling at a seam. Moisture gets into a failed weld and works its way under the finish. By the time you see the stain, the metal underneath is already compromised and needs grinding back before re-welding.
- Post leans or shows fresh cracks at the base plate. San Antonio clay expands and contracts, and a post that’s moving will stress every weld above it. We weld and reinforce the base plate, but we also check the footing itself.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In San Antonio, welded gate repairs on Elite systems typically land between $285 and $680 installed, depending on how much grinding, welding, and repainting is involved. A single hinge re-weld runs toward the lower end. A full gate corner rebuild with new reinforcement plate and fresh paint sits at the higher end. We give you a written price before any work starts, and that price includes grinding back the old weld, prepping the surface, welding with the right filler for your gate’s metal, and a protective finish coat so the repair doesn’t rust through in two seasons.
Parts and labor are itemized separately on the quote, so you can see exactly what you’re paying for. Every weld repair carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if that weld fails within a year, we come back and fix it free. That’s in writing, every time.
DIY or Call Us?
We’ll be straight with you: welding a gate frame is not a weekend project. The metal is often under load, the welds need to be structurally sound, and a bad weld on a hinge can drop a 400-pound gate on someone. That’s not scare talk; it’s just physics. If you have a crack you want to monitor, you can safely mark the ends of the crack with a permanent marker and watch whether it grows. You can also check your gate’s balance by disengaging the operator and swinging it manually. If it binds, drags, or feels heavy, leave it alone and call us.
What you shouldn’t do is run a bead over a cracked hinge with a hardware-store welder and hope for the best. We’ve pulled apart plenty of those repairs, and they fail because the crack wasn’t ground out first or the wrong filler was used on a galvanized post. Call (940) 531-3336 and Cole Rafferty will talk you through what we’re looking at before we ever schedule the truck.
FAQs
A properly ground, welded, and finished gate repair on an Elite frame should last the life of the gate, which in San Antonio is typically 15 to 25 years depending on exposure, soil movement, and how well the original install was done. Our welds are covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise, but the repair itself should outlast the warranty many times over. Call (940) 531-3336 to have us look at your gate.
Yes, in most cases. A cracked hinge mount, bracket, or seam can be ground back and re-welded for a fraction of the cost of a new gate, and the repair is often stronger than the original if the original weld was undercut or incomplete. We’ll tell you honestly if the surrounding metal is too far gone, but that’s the exception, not the rule. Call (940) 531-3336 for a free assessment.
Most welding repairs on an Elite gate are done in a single visit, usually two to four hours depending on how many weld points need attention and whether we’re reinforcing a corner or just re-welding a single hinge. If we need to fabricate a custom bracket or wait for an OEM part, we’ll tell you before we start, and you’ll have a written timeline along with your written price. Call (940) 531-3336 to schedule.
Yes. We keep common hinge plates, weld brackets, reinforcement stock, and a range of Elite-compatible hardware on our San Antonio service trucks, along with parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls systems. If your gate needs something specific we don’t have on board, we can usually have it within a day or two and will give you the written price for the part before we order it. Call (940) 531-3336 if you want to know what we’d need for your gate.
