We stock and install Linear-compatible welded gate components across San Antonio, with most fabrication repairs running $240 – $680 installed depending on the part and your gate’s size. If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already spotted the problem: a cracked hinge bracket, a snapped weld on the gate frame, a bent guide rail, or a broken mounting tab on the operator arm. These failures usually announce themselves with a gate that drags, sags, squeals, or simply stops mid-cycle. We keep common Linear weld-in brackets, hinge assemblies, and reinforcement plates on our trucks so the first visit is usually the only visit.

Warden Gate Repair San Antonio is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Linear, but we’ve been matching and fabricating Linear-compatible steel parts for years.
Which Linear Models This Applies To
Linear gate openers show up on a wide range of residential and light-commercial swing and slide gates across San Antonio, from Alamo Heights driveways to Leon Valley business entries. The welding and fabrication needs break down by opener series. Linear’s older LSO and LS series swing operators use a steel bracket that bolts to the gate and welds to the post plate. The newer PRO series slide operators pull a steel chain along a rail that has to be welded or bolted to the gate frame. The LRA and LRB linear actuators mount on a steel clevis bracket that takes constant push-pull stress.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners miss: the bracket spacing and hole pattern changed between Linear’s LS/LSO generation and the PRO series. A bracket from an old LSO opener won’t line up with a PRO-series post mount without re-drilling or fabrication, and forcing it is how you end up with a twisted gate leaf. Before you order anything, check the stamped model number on the opener housing itself, not the remote or the manual. Then measure the post-to-gate clearance and the bracket bolt spacing. If those numbers don’t match the part you’re holding, stop. We fabricate transition brackets for the common LS-to-PRO mismatches here in San Antonio, and it’s a fraction of the cost of replacing the opener.
For the steel gate frame itself, Linear equipment doesn’t care what brand the gate is. What matters is the metal: most San Antonio residential gates are 14-gauge or 16-gauge steel tube, and the weld repairs need to match that thickness. We use OEM Linear brackets where the part number is still available. For discontinued brackets, we fabricate replacements from the same gauge steel with the same bolt pattern and finish.

Signs Your Linear Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags toward the latch side. A weld on the hinge side has cracked or the gate frame itself has fatigued at a corner joint. You’ll see the gate scrape the ground or the latch won’t line up anymore. The fix is usually a re-weld plus a gusset plate, not a new gate.
- You hear a metal-on-metal clunk every time the gate starts or stops. The operator bracket or the clevis mount has wallowed out at the bolt holes. The bracket moves a fraction of an inch before the gate does, and that clunk is the sound of it slamming into its own slop.
- The gate jerks instead of moving smoothly. On a slide gate, this usually means a welded chain anchor or a rail support has broken loose, so the chain tension changes as the gate rolls. The opener keeps pulling but the gate fights back in pulses.
- You can see daylight through a crack in a weld joint. That’s not a cosmetic issue. A cracked weld on a gate frame corner or hinge leaf is a fracture that grows with every cycle. San Antonio’s hot-dry summers and the freeze-thaw dips we get in January make existing cracks worse faster than you’d expect.
- The opener runs but the gate doesn’t move. The actuator arm or the chain has disconnected from the gate because a weld or bracket let go. You’ll hear the motor humming, but the gate just sits there. This one usually means the bracket needs replacement, not just re-tightening.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what linear welding and fabrication work typically runs in San Antonio:
- Hinge bracket re-weld or reinforcement: $180 – $320
- Gate frame weld repair with gusset plate: $240 – $480
- Replacement Linear operator bracket (OEM or fabricated), installed: $260 – $550
- Slide gate rail or chain anchor repair, welded and aligned: $300 – $680
The range is driven by three things: access to the weld site, the thickness of the steel we’re working with, and whether the existing bracket is salvageable or needs to be fabricated from scratch. Every job includes on-site welding or bolt-on installation, grinding and cleanup, and a written price before we strike an arc. You’ll know the exact number before any work starts, not after. The work itself is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge.
We do not give a price over the phone based on a description alone. We need to see the part, measure the steel, and check the alignment. Cole Rafferty and the crew will send you a written quote before the first weld, every time. That’s how we’ve done it since day one.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest answer. Welding a gate bracket or frame is not a weekend project for someone who doesn’t weld. The steel on a San Antonio gate is load-bearing and the welds are under constant cyclic stress, meaning any cold weld, bad penetration, or missed slag inclusion will fail again, usually at the worst possible moment. If your gate weighs 400 pounds and a weld fails while you’re under it, the result is worse than a repair bill. If you don’t have a welder, a grinder, and experience with structural steel, this is the one repair to leave to someone with the right equipment and training.
What you can safely do: photograph the broken part from a few angles, check the opener model number, and measure the gate’s size and approximate weight. That information helps us bring the right bracket, the right gauge steel, and the right machine on the first trip. But welding itself? That’s our job. Call (940) 531-3336 and we’ll schedule a time to look at it. Tell me what it’s doing wrong – I’ll tell you what it costs to fix it, in writing, before we start.
FAQs
A properly welded and primed steel bracket on a Linear opener in San Antonio typically lasts 10 to 15 years before the cycles and the weather catch up with it. The failure point is usually the weld itself or the bolt-hole area, where repeated push-pull from the opener arm creates fatigue. Gates that get used more than 20 cycles a day wear brackets faster. We see the shortest lifespans on gates that weren’t re-painted after the original weld, because exposed steel in San Antonio’s humidity and rain rusts at the weld joint first. A quality repair includes grinding, welding, primer, and paint, and that’s what gets you the full lifespan.
Yes, in most cases a cracked bracket can be welded, reinforced with a gusset plate, and returned to service for less than the cost of a new fabricated bracket. The exception is when the bracket has already been welded once before, or when the bolt holes have wallowed out so badly that the bracket no longer holds the opener in alignment. In that situation the metal around the holes is too thin to be reliable, and a replacement bracket is the honest fix. We’ll show you the worn part either way so you can see for yourself why we’re recommending repair or replacement.
Most single-bracket or single-joint welding repairs on a Linear gate in San Antonio take 60 to 90 minutes on site, including setup, welding, grinding, and a quick primer pass if the weather cooperates. A full gate-frame repair with multiple joints and a gusset plate can take two to three hours. The paint or finish coat gets applied the same visit unless it’s raining, in which case we come back to finish it once the metal is dry. We’ll give you a time window and a written price before we start any work, so there’s no watching-the-clock charge at the end.
We keep the most common Linear bracket patterns and weld-in reinforcement plates on our service trucks serving San Antonio, so a typical swing or slide gate repair is a same-visit fix. For older or less common Linear models where the OEM bracket is discontinued, we fabricate the replacement in our shop to match the same steel gauge and bolt pattern. That means you’re not waiting on a backordered part that may never ship. We also stock replacement parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls gate openers, so mixed-brand gates don’t mean multiple calls.
